What led you to a career in craft beer?

As we(Wyndee my wife and I) were traveling through Europe we discovered amazing beers and wanted to recreate some of those amazing styles here in Las Vegas. Then I started homebrewing and that became a passion. I won Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp that was open to the public for the first and that was what really inspired me to turn my passion into a profession.

If you weren’t doing this for a living, you’d probably be _________?

Working in the Recreation field.

What are your five favorite beers of all time?

Trappist Westvleteren 12, Pliny the Elder, Black Tuesday, Angel’s Share, Saison Dupont.

If you could enjoy a beer with 3 people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

My wife, obvious reasons. Simon Sinek, his vision – his views about people dynamics.  Glen Hansard, his music- the passion he puts into his music is inspiring.

Please describe your perfect meal and which beer(s) you’d pair with it.

A cheese and charcuterie board with CraftHaus Centerpiece Table beer

Favorite beer quote OR drinking toast?

Sam Calagione – Beer people are cool people in general. We say our industry is 99 percent asshole free. So I probably do forget one of every hundred names of the person who was underwhelming. But everyone’s so nice in this industry so I look forward to seeing them a second time.

How have you seen the craft beer industry change over the past five years, and how do you see it changing in the next five?

Yes, it has changed a lot. Breweries are opening in the U.S. at a rate of 1.5 a day.  I think it will continue to grow. Especially here in Las Vegas.  With all the new breweries I think the focus will be more on quality and not so much on volume.

Favorite place to drink a beer?

Rx Boiler Room at The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay

Pretend it’s bring-your-fans-to-work day. What can we expect to see you doing during a typical day on the job?

Emails, phone calls, paying bills, visiting accounts, ordering items for the business, cleaning toilets, etc. The not so fun side of owning a business. I can have a beer at the end of the day which is nice.

Licence to brag: what’s the best thing you’ve contributed to the craft beer universe?

When Wyndee and I became lobbyists to change the City of Henderson’s liquor licence to a more craft brewery friendly license.

Please share a little-known fun fact about yourself.

I have two degrees in Recreation.  This is how I  meet Wyndee while I was working on the Cruises Ships running the Recreation programs.  This is also why we like to host running and cycling groups at our brewery.
